The Hauppauge Fire Department was requested to respond to the scene of a working Structure Fire in Central Islip with our Ladder (3-8-7). The building was the old administration building (vacant) for the State Hospital at Carleton Avenue & Sunburst. While Central Islip equipment and manpower had quickly knocked the fire down, due to the age and type of construction it required extensive overhaul. Fire damage appeared confined to the front part of the structure with the bulk of the damage to the front porch area. Chief Charles Doyle of Central Islip was the Incident Commander. Chief Gagliardi was the officer in charge of Hauppauge's personnel & unit. Lakeland sent an engine to the scene and then later to fill-in at Central Islip firehouse. Both CI-Hauppauge & Islip Exchange had ambulances at scene.

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched for a Structural Fire on Alpine Court. First in Engine 3-8-3 under the Command of Lieutenant Kenneth Furuno found two stories residential home with heavy fire on the second floor. Engines 3-8-3 with assistance from the crews of Engines 13, 14, 1 and Ladder 3-8-7 stretching two attack lines had the fire declared under control by 1650 Hrs. The vehicle also sustained serious damage. The Fire Marshal indicated that further investigation would be needed to establish the specific malfunction in the vehicle that led to this fire, but that it did appear to be accidental. The occupants at the home at the time of the fire escaped unharmed. The Officer who was in overall command of this fire was Chief of Department Michael Gagliardi who wishes to extend his thanks to the Commack Fire Department for responding promptly for our request for an additional truck company.    The Hauppauge Fire Department was summoned to respond to our own Headquarters for a tree down into the fuel pumps. Responding personnel found a large tree on the property had fell and struck and pretty much destroyed the fuel pumps and associated equipment. There was a small fuel leak. Fire Department personnel applied foam as a safety precaution to facilitate the safe use of chainsaws. While the tree was being cut up a line stood-by for protection.
