The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle with a victim trapped at Wheeler Road and Express Drive South. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated at the scene with Engines 3-8-14 and 3-8-11 in conjunction with Suffolk County Police Emergency Services Unit #2 to free the victim and allow personnel from the Central Islip-Hauppauge Community Ambulance to treat and extricate the victim. There were two other injuries and many thanks to the Brentwood Legion Ambulance and East Brentwood Fire Department Ambulance that responded to assist. Fire Department personnel at this scene operated under the Command of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava who was aided by is 2nd Asst Chief Kenneth Furuno. All Fire Units were back in service as of 1515 Hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with a report of a person trapped. Arriving personnel and equipment found a three vehicle accident with one vehicle laying on its side. In conjunction with Suffolk County Police Emergency Services Unit #2 fire department personnel using hydraulic tools removed the roof of this vehicle so the rapped and injured driver could be treated,extricated and transported by the crew of Central Islip-Hauppauge ambulance 3-26-17. Before taking up, Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 winch was utilized to right the overturned vehicle. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Engines 3-8-1 & 3-8-4 operated at this scene under the command of Assistant Chief Raymond Germaine. All Fire department equipment was secure as of 1102 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an overturned vehicle with possible entrapment at the intersection of Wheeler Road (111) and Express Drive North. Arriving units found a 1996 Freightliner straight body truck which was hauling paper had overturned in this intersection spilling a good portion of its load of paper into the intersection. The truck driver was already out of vehicle and was aided by members of the CI-Hauppauge Community Ambulance. Fire Department personnel under the direction of Chiefs Kriklava and Germaine aided the police in removing debris from roadway so it could be partially reopened. All Fire Department equipment was back in service as of 2339 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with a person trapped at Townline Road & Blydenburgh Road. A middle aged male was trapped in a 1997 Oldsmobile after impacting with a 2004 Ford Pick Up. The crew of Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 removed the driver side of this Oldsmobile under the Command of Chiefs Kriklava and Germaine. Ems personnel from Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance then treated and transported this person to the hospital. The other driver claimed he was uninjured. All Fire Department equipment was back in service by 0740 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a report of a Bulk(6000 Gallon)Liquefied Nitrogen Tank Leaking rear of a commercial building on David's Drive. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Engines 3-8-1 & 3-8-13 operated under the command of Chiefs Kriklava,Germaine, & Furuno. Islip Haz-mat Team Rep and a Smithtown Fire Marshal Also on Scene. It was decided to allow the reps from the Vendor to Isolate the damaged piping thereby stopping the leak and to repair the broken fitting. All Hauppauge Fire Department units were back in service as of approximately 0430 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Express Drive South. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated briefly at this incident assisting Suffolk County Police Department with fluids in the roadway. Fortunately no one was trapped but both drivers appeared to sustain some serious injuries. They were attended to by ambulance crews from Central Islip-Hauppauge Community Ambulance. Hauppauge Fire Department operated at this incident under the command of Assistant Chief Ray Germaine. All Fire Department were secure from this incident as of 1209 Hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a reported rollover mva with an ejection on September 23rd 2007 at 1451 hrs at the Junction of Veterans Highway (454) and Nesconset Highway (Route 347). Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Engine 3-8-14 operated at this scene under the command of Chiefs Kriklava and Furuno. Engine 3-8-11 under the supervision of Chief Germaine attended a helicopter landing at the Hauppauge High School for the male that was reportedly ejected from the Yukon. He was transported to the School in one of two CI-Hauppauge Ambulances that responded to this incident and then helicoptered to Stony Brook University Hospital. The Women in the other vehicle was also transported to by ground to Stony Brook Hospital. All units were back in service as of 1538 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a Structural fire at or in vicinity of # 20 Newton Place. Arriving men and equipment found that a vehicle (2001 Mercedes Benz) was burning in the rear of #20 Newton Place, very close to the building. Engines 3-8-14, 3-8-13 and ladder 3-8-7 operated at this scene under the command of Chief Kriklava. The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad was requested to investigate this obviously suspicious fire. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with a report of an overturned vehicle and persons trapped. Arriving units found that two vehicles had collided and one was overturned with two occupants who did not appear to be seriously injured but could not escape from the vehicle. Suffolk Police personnel in conjunction with Hauppauge Fire Department personnel removed the vehicles windshield allowing these two persons to exit the vehicle. These two persons as well as the occupants of the other vehicle were all attended to by the medical crew from Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance. Engine 3-8-3 and Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated at this scene under the command of Assistant Chief Kenneth Furuno. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to Veterans Highway and Wheeler Road for an auto accident with reported entrapment. Responding personnel and equipment found a female passenger of a 2001 Suzuki injured and trapped in the front passenger seat. All other occupants of both vehicles while having sustained varying degrees of injuries had already self extricated and were receiving treatment from ambulance personnel from CI-Hauppauge ambulances 3-26-15 & 17. Truck Company members arriving on Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 with a standby hose line provided by engine 3-8-3 immediately went to work to disentangle the trapped passenger with the completion of this operation at 0321 hrs. Thanks to the Smithtown Fire Department for providing an additional ambulance. Prior to taking up a hose line was used to wash glass and other debris from this busy roadway. All units operating at this scene Heavy rescue 3-8-9, Engine 3-8-3 and Engine 3-8-11 under the Command of Chief Thomas Kriklava were all back in service by 0338 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to multiple reports of a structural fire in a multi-tenant building on Old Willets Path. Arriving Chief Officers and apparatus found a smoke showing from the occupancy with an address of #651 Old Willets Path. Entry was forced into this business which was closed and the fire located in the front office area was quickly extinguished and placed under control at 1757 hrs by Chief of the Department Thomas Kriklava. Many thanks to Commack Fire Department for responding a Rapid Intervention Team which was returned while enroute to the scene due to the quick control of the incident. Many thanks to Nesconset Fire Department for providing an engine to fill-in while Hauppauge operated at this incident. One firefighter was treated and transported by CI-Hauppauge Ambulance to Saint Catherine's Hospital for Smoke Inhalation. The origin and cause of the fire was investigated by both fire officials from Hauppauge Fire Department and the Chief Fire Marshal of the Town of Smithtown. The fire appeared to be accidental in nature with the point of origin being a malfunctioning appliance. All Hauppauge Equipment was back in service as of 1838 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Fairview Place. Chief Kriklava and Assistant Chief Furuno found that a single vehicle had left the roadway striking a pole which was split and two. The occupant of vehicle had self extricated and was attended to by medical staff of CI-Hauppauge ambulance 3-26-17. Engine 3-8-14 was briefly on the scene and Engine 3-8-11 returned enroute. Suffolk Police closed Wheeler road at this location until LIPA arrives and makes the necessary repairs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an auto accident with fire on vicinity of Long Expressway Exit 57 eastbound. Responding equipment found a single vehicle that had struck the concrete divider and had overturned a number of times and was on fire. Fortunately the four occupants of this 2003 Mitsubishi were able to escape prior to the vehicle becoming heavily involved in fire. Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance aided two persons who were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a car on fire on the Long Island Expressway Westbound at Exit 56. Responding men and equipment found a 1997 Volkswagen heavily involved in fire. The two vehicle occupants who were returning to Queens after spending the day at a water park were uninjured. It is believed that the vehicle suffered a mechanical malfunction possibly related to the vehicles transmission which was the probable cause of this fire. Engines 3-8-4,3-8-1 and Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated at this incident under the command of Chiefs Kriklava and Germaine. All equipment was in service as of 1615 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident Just south of the Intersection of Veterans Highway and Express Drive South. There were no injuries but one vehicle was atop the guardrail and had sustained damage to the under carriage including the gasoline tank which lost all its contents. It was estimated approximately 15-20 gallons had spilled. Fire Department personnel from Engine 3-8-4 and Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 under the direction of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava applied foam (AFFF) and stood-by until vehicle was safely removed off guardrail. New York State DEC and Department of Transportation were both notified as to the need of a proper cleanup at this location. All Fire Department units were back in service as of 1656 Hrs. |

Units on scene found a two car accident with one of the vehicles overturned. Fortunately there were no injuries. Lakeland Fire Department was notified that this incident was just inside their jurisdiction and Engine 3-8-1 and crew under the direction of Chief Kriklava assisted with traffic control and debris cleanup following police emergency services up-righting the vehicle. The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in vicinity of the Motor Parkway and Marcus Boulevard. Responding units found a sport utility vehicle (2003 Ford) and 40 foot semi-trailer filled with plastic goods burning in the rear of #35 Marcus Boulevard. Engines 3-8-4, 3-8-3, 3-8-1 and Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated at this scene under the command of Chief Thomas Kriklava. Two handlines and one portable deluge set were put into operation to suppress this fire which was declared under control as of 0630 hrs.This was an extended operation and all units did not complete overhaul and take-up until approximately 0800 hrs. This fire which was of suspicious origin is under investigation by the Arson Squad of the Suffolk County Police. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a car fire on the Eastbound Northern State Parkway, West of Veterans Memorial Highway. Responding units found a 1998 Jeep Cherokee that had left the roadway and overturned and was still running on its side with a rear wheel still turning. The driver of the vehicle escaped unharmed. The driver had apparently fallen asleep. Shortly before F.D. Personnel were going to take action to shut the vehicle off, it stalled on its own. F.D. personnel cooled down the vehicles engine compartment and stood-by while the vehicle was removed. Responding units found a 1994 Ford Suburban that had left the roadway and crashed into fence along the perimeter of the Hauppauge Middle School athletic field. The lone occupant had apparently self-extricated and was treated and transported by the medical personnel of CI-Hauppauge Ambulance 3-26-16. Units briefly operating at this scene were Engine 3-8-4 & Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 whom were under the command of Chiefs Thomas Kriklava. All units were back in service as of 2127 hrs. |

Responding units found a 2006 Lincoln which had left the roadway and struck and tree and gone over on its drivers side. Inside the vehicle was the lone female driver. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Engines 3-8-14, 3-8-1 operated at this scene under the command of Chief Thomas Kriklava to access the driver so medical personnel of CI-Hauppauge Ambulance could stabilize and transport the victim to a local hospital. The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched for an mva on Townline Road in the vicinity of Hoffman Lane. On his arrival Assistant Chief Germaine found a late model Ford Explorer Sports trac with a fire burning in the Engine Compartment closer to Blydenburgh Road on Townline Road. Engines 3-8-4, 3-8-1, Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated at this scene. This vehicle was involved in a collision striking another vehicle in the rear with its front end in what appeared to have been a minor collision. The operator of the fire vehicle stated that immediately after the collision upon exiting the vehicle fire was observed in and around the left front headlamp. He and the occupant of the other vehicle were uninjured. All fire Equipment was back in service as of 2115 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department operated at this car fire on the Long Island Expressaway exits 55 to 56 eastbound with Engines 3-8-1 & 3-8-4 under the Command of Chiefs Kriklava, Germaine, & Furuno. This 1993 Jeep sustained a serious engine compartment fire which heavily damaged the vehicle. The owner/operator stated just prior to the smoke and flames the check engine light had illuminated. There were no injuries and the fire was promptly extinguished. Many thanks to the Commack Fire Department who was returning from the Fire Academy for stopping with two chief officers and an engine and lent assistance. All equipment was back in service as of 2159 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department operated with Engine 3-8-3 & Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 under the command of Chief Kriklava at the scene of an unusual motor vehicle accident. A vehicle left the parking lot of 90 Davids Drive and ended up upside down between buildings 145/155 Ricefield Lane. The male driver self extricated prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. He appeared uninjured but was attended to by personnel from the Brentwood Legion Ambulance unit who responded and transported this person to Southside Hospital. Fire Department Personnel secured the vehicle with a rope and removed under brush so a private wrecker would be able to access the site. All units were back in service by 1441 hours. |

Heavy/Technical Rescue 3-8-9, Engines 3-8-14, and 3-8-13 operated at the scene under the command of Assistant Chiefs Kriklava and Germaine.Truck Company personnel utilized the Hurst Hydraulic Spreaders (Jaws) to remove the drivers side door of one of the vehicles to provide access to one of injured vehicle operators for personnel of CI-Hauppauge Ambulance whom aided a total of three individuals at this incident. The Hauppauge Fire Department operated at a Brush Fire Between the Long Island Expressway & Express Drive North just east of Motor Parkway. The fire which was approximately 50 X 200 resulted in the Suffolk County Police Highway patrol temporarily closing the westbound expressway lanes due to a blinding smoke condition. Engines 3-8-4,3-8-11,3-8-14 rapidly contained the fire under the command of Chief Officers Kriklava and Germaine. All equipment was back in service by 1509 hrs |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in the vicinity of Veterans Highway and Old Willets Path. Responding units found a 1993 Toyota at the Northeast corner of this intersection (Smithtown Fire District) with a heavily involved engine compartment fire. Engine 3-8-14 under the command of Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr. extinguished the fire. The women operator of the vehicle was uninjured and she described having mechanical problems with the vehicle shortly before it burst into flames. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to an unusual motor vehicle accident involving a taxi cab that left the Expressway from the top of the Veterans Highway overpass and ended up down by Veterans Highway 30 feet below. The driver who required extrication was injured and the sleeping passenger who was in the rear of the vehicle was able to self extricate and had minor injuries. Heavy Rescue personnel from the Hauppauge Fire Department and Suffolk County Police Emergency Services extricated the driver. Both the driver and the passenger were attended to by personnel from Central Islip-Hauppauge Community ambulance who transported both to Southside Hospital. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Engines 3-8-11, 3-8-13 operated at this incident under the command of Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr. All Fire Department Equipment was back in service as of 0836 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to # 215 Oser Avenue a 90 X 115 single story commercial occupancy for a report of a fire on the roof. Arriving fire department chiefs and apparatus found smoke coming from the roof and the buildings fire sprinkler system operating. Lines were stretched to the roof, the buildings fire sprinkler system and when entry was forced a line was taken to the area of the fire in the building. The buildings sprinkler system had prevented fire spread within the building and once the handline extinguished the fire which involved the under side of the roof the sprinkler system was shut down. The fire was declared under control at 1127 hrs. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire was workers using a torch on the roof igniting combustible dust in a fan unit which by description burned explosively. Fire Damage was confined to the fan and to both sides of the roof in the immediate vicinity of the fan. There was considerable water damage to roll paper stock in storage in the building. Many thanks to the Commack, Central Islip, and Smithtown Fire Departments for their assistance. This operation was under the Command of Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr.

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to the report of a fire at automotive repair / tire retailer at 890 Jericho Turnpike West in Smithtown. Responding units found this one story 12,000 Square foot structure and its contents heavily involved with partial collapse having taken place prior to fire department arrival. With the wind gusting to 30 mph the fire was severely threatening to spread to an adjacent building. Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr. requested mutual aid from the Smithtown, Commack, Central Islip, Kings Park fire departments for additional men and apparatus to the scene. The Nesconset Fire Department filled in at Hauppauge Headquarters. At the height of the fire four tower ladders were in full operation. Despite the howling wind, cold temperatures and a number of hydrants in close proximity to scene not operational requiring at least one supply line hose lay of almost 2500 feet and in-line pumping, the fire was contained to the building of origin. The building and its contents (including 12 motor vehicles) were a total loss. The Town of Smithtown Fire Marshals Office and the Arson Squad of the Suffolk County Police Department are investigating the origin and cause of this fire.

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident. One vehicle left the roadway struck a tree and went through a fence. The two occupants escaped unscathed and refused medical attention. What was unusual is this car crash is it is in the exact same spot where there had been a previous accident a month or so ago where a civilian was rescued the driver of that vehicle. Your can still see the fire damage to the tree and fence from the prior incident. Engine 3-8-11 and Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated briefly at this incident under the command of Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched for a motor vehicle fire at 250 Kennedy Drive. Engines 3-8-14 & 3-8-4 operated at this incident under the command of Engine 1 Captain Robert Wind. This accidental fire heavily damaged this 1990 Toyota. The fire was declared under control at 0950 hrs and all equipment was back in service as 1000 hrs. The temperature at time of this alarm was approximately 18 degrees. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to an automatic sprinkler system waterflow alarm at a building on Ricefield Lane in the Industrial Park. Arriving men and equipment found nothing visible from the exterior, but the fire sprinkler system water motor gong was operating. Entry was immediately forced and a light smoke condition was encountered and water was on the floor. The crew of Engine 3-8-14 found that a fire in an office in the middle of the building had been extinguished by one fused automatic sprinkler head. The fire sprinkler system was shut down and salvage and ventilation was begun. The Smithtown Fire Marshals office was requested to send a representative to conduct a origin and cause investigation in conjunction with the Hauppauge Fire Department. Engines 3-8-14, Engine 3-8-1 and manpower operated at this incident under the command of Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr. |
Car Fire - Motor Parkway and Blydenburgh Road - 01-21-07 at 2009 Hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was alerted to a report of a car fire in the vicinity of the intersection of Motor Parkway and Blydenburgh Road. Incident Commander Assistant Chief Ray Germaine first on scene found a heavily involved vehicle(1997 Honda) on Blydenburgh Road where it intersects with the High Tension Wires Right of Way. Engines 3-8-1, 3-8-14 operated at this incident. It was determined after extinguishment that the vehicle had recently been reported stolen. Another alarm was struck at 2017 hrs for a overturned vehicle on the Long Island Expressway. Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr, Assistant Chief Thomas Kriklava and Engine 3-8-4 and Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 briefly operated at this incident at which there was no serious injury. All equipment from both incidents was in service as of 2109 hrs.

The Hauppauge Fire Department was activated for an unusual occurrence at # 45 Ranick Road. A tractor trailer fell into a partially collapsed storm catch basin. The driver of the vehicle who first reported no injuries was removed from the vehicle via Ladder Tower 3-8-7's Aerial Ladder.Later the driver was treated and transported for neck pain by CI-Hauppauge Ambulance. Hauppauge F.D. operated at this scene under the command of Chief of Department Ray Woods Jr. Suffolk County Police Emergency Services and the Islip Town Fire Marshal were also on scene. |
