The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the basement of a residence on Michele Lane. Responding firefighters under the command of Chief Thomas Kriklava suppressed a small fire in the boiler room. One resident suffered from smoke inhalation while trying to remove a pet from the residence that was moderately charged with smoke.This resident was transported to the Hospital by Central Islip-Hauppauge Community Ambulance. Mutual aid was initially requested but cancelled as the situation was rapidly brought under control. All Units were able to secure at approximately 0230 hrs following the removal of smoke from within the structure and investigating the probable point of origin and cause. The cause of this fire believed to be accidental and is under further investigation by the Hauppauge Fire Department and the Islip Town Fire Marshal Office. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a reported overturn vehicle at New Highway & Oriole street. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Fire Police 3-8-10 and Chiefs Unit 3-8-31 (Asst Chief Germaine) found an overturned box truck with the driver sitting atop the box. He was uninjured and removed via a collapsible ladder. F.D. personnel applied some absorbent to some spilled lubricants and SCPD requested a town sander due to the icing condition that contributed to this accident and the spilled lubricants. The box truck which was used to haul ice cream appeared to sustain some considerable damage. All equipment back in service as of 0829 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire in the rear of 25 Corporate Drive. Engine 3-8-4 & 3-8-1 operated at this scene under the command of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava. The vehicle a 1991 Jeep Cherokee was totally consumed. All Equipment was back in service as of 0823 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire on the Long Island Expressway Eastbound between exits 56 & 57. Engines 3-8-4,3-8-1, 3-8-4 operated at this incident under the Command of Chief of The Department Thomas Kriklava. The Female owner/occupant of this 2000 Kia was not injured but the vehicle was a total loss. The fire was of accidental origin and based on the operators description of the incident was most likely caused by a mechanical failure (friction)in front wheels assembly area. All equipment back in service by 01:10 hrs |

The Hauppauge Fire Department under the command of Chiefs Germaine and Furuno operated to extricate the operator of 1989 Buick Regatta that was trapped as a result of an auto accident after this vehicle left the roadway and overturned and struck some trees landing right side up. This occurred on the Northern State Parkway Eastbound Just West of the Veterans Highway. The crews of Heavy Rescue 3-8-9, Engine 3-8-14, and Fire Police 3-8-10 operated at this incident with medical aid provided by Commack Volunteer Ambulance personnel. Victim was extricated at 1348 hrs and all equipment was back in service as of 1357 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department extinguished a vehicle fire under the command of Assistant Chief Kenneth Furuno. Engine 3-8-3 with Captain Robert Wind and crew quickly extinguished this 1999 Ford which was owned by the County of Suffolk. There were no injuries and the fire appeared to be of accidental origin originating in the engine compartment. A equipment was back in service by 1041 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to an auto accident at Veterans Highway & Express Drive South. Engines 3-8-14 & Fire Police under the command of Captain Michael Bozeat found a Sport Utility Vehicle and a late model Mercury Marquis had been in a serious collision. Both Drivers were injured and were aided by members of the CI-Hauppauge ambulance and the Exchange Ambulance of the Islip's. Fortunately there was no passenger in the Grand Marquis. F.D. Personnel applied absorbent to spilled fluids and did a wash down of debris. Fire Police aided Suffolk P.D. with traffic control. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a serious auto accident with person or persons trapped and the vehicle possibly on fire. First arriving Assistant Chief Kenneth Furuno found a car( a 2004 Lexus IS300) in the woods almost on the westbound side at the junction. There was no fire but the female operator was heavily trapped. Firefighters in conjunction with Suffolk County Police Emergency Services extricated the injured person who was first attended to by medical personnel of the Commack Volunteer Ambulance and then was transferred to a Suffolk County Police helicopter for transport to Stony Brook University Hospital. Hauppauge Heavy Rescue unit # 9 and Engine 13 and Fire Police operated at this incident under the Command of 1st Assistant Chief Raymond Germaine. All Hauppauge equipment was back in service as of 10:29 hrs |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a reported transformer fire on Hills Park Lane in the Smithtown Pines area of the Fire District. Engines 3-8-14,3-8-13 and Fire Police operated at this incident under the Command of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava. The fire which was first believed to be a small underground electrical transformer( later determined to be a secondary splice box.) burned intensely with intermittent electrical arching. A small hose line was stretched to protect exposures and LIPA notified. After a little less then one hour the utility company arrived and the Chief was satisfied it was safe enough to extinguish the fire with a dry chemical extinguisher. The homeowner whose residence this incident occurred in front of suffered minor property damage to a small decorative light post and to a shrub. At least four residences were without power and firefighters on their arrival had in conjunction with the residence isolated their electrical systems at the individual home circuit breaker panels and checked the residence's for possible carbon monoxide contamination. All Hauppauge Fire apparatus was back in service as of 1729 hrs. |

Hauppauge Fire Department under the command of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava operated at the scene of large oil slick created by a truck engine catastrophically failing. This incident occurred in the Westbound lanes of Motor Parkway Between Kennedy Drive and Old Willets Path. East Brentwood was notified and 3-3-31 responded as this incident was in their jurisdiction. As you can see this was really a multi-jurisdictional effort as Chief Paul Ryan of Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance who happened to be just passing by was put to work with a broom. The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident near the entrance to Hidden Pond Park at Terry Road and Old Post Drive. Chief of Dept. Kriklava and Assistant Chief Germaine Responded to the scene along with Engine 3-8-11. They found a 1995 SUV that had left the roadway and apparently struck a steel traffic light support column. Miraculously the lone driver was found sitting on a nearby curb with what appeared to be minor injuries. The injured party was aided by the crew of CI-Hauppauge Ambulance 3-26-16 who transported him to a local hospital. F.D. personnel disabled the vehicles electrical system and applied absorbent to spilled fluids. All equipment was back in service as of 0028 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle accident with fire on the Long Island Expressway eastbound,west of Exit 56. The actual location was a good mile to two miles west of 56 in the Brentwood Fire District. Units 3-8-14,3-8-11 operated at this scene under the Command of Chiefs Kriklava and Furuno. Brentwood Fire Department was also in attendance and operated with an engine and their heavy rescue. The driver of the vehicle was able to escape with minor injuries as a result of the crash. There were three other people injured. All injured were aided and transported to hospitals by ambulances from the Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance and the Brentwood Legion Ambulance. All Hauppauge units were in service as of 1900 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was alert for a motor vehicle accident at Wheeler Road and Schoolhouse lane. One vehicle had left the roadway and struck a utility pole snapping this pole in half and causing a number of other poles to pull over. The lone female occupant who self extricated prior to the emergency services arrival was transported to the hospital by Central-Islip Hauppauge ambulance. Needless to say this was going to play havoc with traffic late into this evening. The Fire Chiefs at the scene were Chief Kriklava and Assistant Chief Germaine. Crews of Heavy rescue 3-8-9, 3-8-14 and the fire police remained on scene until 1421 hours assisting the police getting the traffic situation under control and awaiting the arrival of LIPA. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was Dispatched to a report of a car fire on the LIE westbound, west of exit 57. Units 3-8-4 and 3-8-11 operated at this incident under the command of Chiefs Germaine and Furuno. The actual incident location was Eastbound at Exit 58 just west of the Old Nichols Road overpass. This incident was in the Central Islip Fire District and they were advised that we would handle this incident. The family from Queens who were on there way out to the waterpark in riverhead were uninjured and stated that they smelled gasoline just prior to the vehicle erupting in flames.This fire necessitated a complete shutdown of the eastbound lanes of the expressway for approximately twenty minutes which was done by both the Suffolk County Police and our fire police unit. All units were back in service by 1159 hrs. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to the scene of a four vehicle accident involving a box truck and three private autos. The driver of the red Toyota miraculously sustained only what appeared to be minor injuries and he was treated and transported by Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance unit 3-26-15 to Southside Hospital. All the other persons involved were uninjured. F.D. Personnel assisted the police in removing damaged vehicles from the roadway and applying absorbent to spilled fluids. Engines 3-8-14 and 3-8-11 operated under the command of Chief of the Department Thomas Kriklava. All units were back in service at approximately 0655 hrs |

The Hauppauge Fire Department under the direction of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava Sr. operated at a residence on Wren Drive. The fire which originated in the basement of this 38 x 50 ranch extended into the first floor and attic space. No civilians or firefighters were injured. The home which was not occupied at the time of the fire sustained moderate fire damage with extensive smoke damage throughout. Hauppauge Fire Department was aided by the Smithtown and Commack Fire Departments at the scene with Brentwood and Nesconset Fire Departments filling in at Hauppauge's firehouse. The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a mutual aid call by Smithtown Fire Department for a house fire at 0832 hrs. Unit 3-8-7 responded to the scene under the direction of Chiefs Kriklava and Germaine. All Occupants had escaped safely and the fire was knocked down quickly but not before doing serious damage to this residence at #35 Jerome Street. Also assisting Smithtown at the scene was Nesconset Fire Department. Kings Park Fire Department moved up to cover Smithtown Fire District. The commanding officer of the Operation was Smithtown Fire Chief Thomas Duckham. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a car fire in the driveway of a Heller Place residence. The fire which is believed to have started as a result of an electrical malfunction in the engine compartment caused heavy damage to this 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on the Long Island Expressway at the Exit 56 westbound on ramp. The vehicle, a 1991 Chevrolet Explorer was heavily involved and as you can see a total loss. The lone occupant/operator was uninjured and the fire was judged to be of accidental origin from an unspecified mechanical malfunction. Engines 3-8-14 & 4 along with the Fire Police operated at this incident under the Command of Engine 4 Captain Edward Minder. All units were back in service as of 1322 hrs. |

The Nesconset Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 125 Midwood Avenue. They encountered a working fire in the basement of this ranch house. They requested an engine from Hauppauge and additional apparatus from Lakeland & Saint James and a number of ambulances. At least two firefighters were transported to the Hospital, one for an animal bite ( a raccoon) and one for chest pains. A number of animals expired at this incident. Hauppauge Engine 3-8-11 was on scene with Hauppauge Chiefs Germaine and Furuno at Nesconset's command post. Nesconset made quick work of this fire. Hauppauge Engine 3-8-14 filled in at Nesconset's Headquarters. Nesconset command Chief was A.J. Anderson. |

Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 & Engine 3-8-4 operated at this inciddent under the command of Chief of the Department Thomas Kriklava. Many Thanks to CI-Hauppauge Ambulance and the East Brentwood Fire Department for their prompt EMS response. (Note) That is not a command Chief operating the equipment, that is Ex-Captain Brett Martinez and member of Truck Company. He could not get past the accident scene to respond to the firehouse so Chief of Department Kriklava was kind enough to lend him his gear so he could assist and operate with a proper level of safety. |

The Hauppauge Fire Department operated at a heavy rescue auto accident on Rabro Drive approximately 150 feet west of Constance Court with one male driver trapped heavily in this single car accident. The crew of Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 and Engine 3-8-4 under the direction of Assistant Chief Furuno in conjunction with Suffolk County Police ES unit #3 utilized a number of Hydraulic and manually operated rescue tools to free the driver. CI-Hauppauge ambulance aided the patient and transported him to a landing zone where the Suffolk County Police Helicopter ferried the patient to Stony Brook Hospital. Engine 3-8-11 stood-by at the helicopter landing zone. All Hauppauge Fire Equipment were back in service as of 2309 hrs. |
