Car Fire - Heller Place - 3-25-08 at 0140 Hrs.

   The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a car fire in the driveway of a Heller Place residence. The fire which is believed to have started as a result of an electrical malfunction in the engine compartment caused heavy damage to this 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis. No one was injured and the residence was undamaged. Engines 3-8-14 and 3-8-11 operated at this incident under the Command of Chief Thomas Kriklava.

   The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire on the Long Island Expressway at the Exit 56 westbound on ramp. The vehicle, a 1991 Chevrolet Explorer was heavily involved and as you can see a total loss. The lone occupant/operator was uninjured and the fire was judged to be of accidental origin from an unspecified mechanical malfunction. Engines 3-8-14 & 4 along with the Fire Police operated at this incident under the Command of Engine 4 Captain Edward Minder. All units were back in service as of 1322 hrs.

   The Nesconset Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 125 Midwood Avenue. They encountered a working fire in the basement of this ranch house. They requested an engine from Hauppauge and additional apparatus from Lakeland & Saint James and a number of ambulances. At least two firefighters were transported to the Hospital, one for an animal bite ( a raccoon) and one for chest pains. A number of animals expired at this incident. Hauppauge Engine 3-8-11 was on scene with Hauppauge Chiefs Germaine and Furuno at Nesconset's command post. Nesconset made quick work of this fire. Hauppauge Engine 3-8-14 filled in at Nesconset's Headquarters. Nesconset command Chief was A.J. Anderson.

   The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to an auto accident with Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 with the support of Engines 3-8-11 & 3-8-14 operated at an auto extrication under the command of Chief of Department Thomas Kriklava. This was a four vehicle accident with at least three injured persons who were aided medically by personnel from the Central Islip-Hauppauge Community Ambulance. All Equipment was back in service by 10:35 Hrs.

   The Hauppauge Fire Department responded with a FAST (RIT) to 385 Brentwood Parkway in Brentwood. The crew of Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated under the direction of Chief thomas Kriklava and Assistant Chief Raymond Germaine.

   The Hauppauge Fire Department responded to an auto accident with a person trapped in front of 668 Wheeler road in vicnity of Hubbs Avenue. Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 & Engine 3-8-4 operated at this inciddent under the command of Chief of the Department Thomas Kriklava. Many Thanks to CI-Hauppauge Ambulance and the East Brentwood Fire Department for their prompt EMS response. (Note) That is not a command Chief operating the equipment, that is Ex-Captain Brett Martinez and member of Truck Company. He could not get past the accident scene to respond to the firehouse so Chief of Department Kriklava was kind enough to lend him his gear so he could assist and operate with a proper level of safety.

   The Hauppauge Fire Department operated at a heavy rescue auto accident on Rabro Drive approximately 150 feet west of Constance Court with one male driver trapped heavily in this single car accident. The crew of Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 and Engine 3-8-4 under the direction of Assistant Chief Furuno in conjunction with Suffolk County Police ES unit #3 utilized a number of Hydraulic and manually operated rescue tools to free the driver. CI-Hauppauge ambulance aided the patient and transported him to a landing zone where the Suffolk County Police Helicopter ferried the patient to Stony Brook Hospital. Engine 3-8-11 stood-by at the helicopter landing zone. All Hauppauge Fire Equipment were back in service as of 2309 hrs.
