How it all started - General history
1968/1969 Kings Park F.D. came to Hauppauge F.D. to give us a demonstration on their aerial platform. the use of this truck showed us its advantage and disadvantages. This demonstration helped the Board of Fire Commissioners decide to purchase 3811, a 1972 Seagrave Snorkel.
1969 Chief of Dept. asked members to volunteer to form a new company which would be called Truck Company. The Truck Company would carry out truck operations at the fire scene. Members who volunteered: Tom Fallona, James Murphy Sr., and Bob Canberg. Other members were later assigned to form this 10 member company.
8/27/1970 Chief Haynes activates Truck Company 1. The members are:

Board Of Fire Commissioner's Meetings
3/13/1969 Commissioners Lundin, Jardin and Chief Haynes went to look at the first aerial platform 3811 Trump Snorkel.
4/9/1969 Bidding was opened for first aerial platform. War LeFrance 2 boom 85' and Trump Snorkel 3 boom 95'
9/16/1970 Chief John Haynes announced that Truck Company was activated and would be operate as such.
10/19/1970 Truck 388 had been turned over to Truck Company and that they were to be held responsible for the maintenance and operation of the unit.
10/19/1970 Chief reported that the operational procedure had been formulated and this system would be followed while Truck is working with 388.
1970 During the first Truck Company meeting, riding assignments were set up to carry out truck operations. While still waiting for the aerial truck to arrive the Truck Company used Engine 388, a 1964 Hann. While responding with 388 this company will also be used as a Engine Company (if needed). The Company's first fire, responding with 388 was located on Townline Rd. Orders by Chief Wierenga were to "hit the hydrant and double up, lay in and supply 387."
1019/1970 Minutes from the First Truck Company Meeting
The First Meeting of Truck Company 1 was held at the Main Fire House.

We were informed by Chief Haynes that Engine 388 would be turned over to the Truck Company until delivery of the Snorkel 3810 (changed to 3811 before delivery). 388 will be housed at the Sub-Station until room is made at the Main House.

Treasurer: A. Kramer
Secretary: W. Tipton
By-Laws: T. Fallona
It was agreed that each memeber would pay 50 cents in dues each month for refreshments whether the member attends the monthly meeting or not.
All gear is to be put on 388 as soon as possible.
A. Kramer needs Helmet size 7 1/2.
H. Schreck needs complete set of gear.
1973 - a 1972 Seagrave 90' 3 Boom Snorkel designated 3811 becomes the second unit assigned to the company. The Truck Company used this vehicle for Ladder Operations.

1977- Chief Seuling terminated Fire Police Company which used truck 381. Truck 381 was then turned over to Truck Company. The Truck Company used this vehicle for Truck/Rescue operations. This Truck was the third truck assigned to this company.

1984 - Heavy Rescue, 389, which replaced 381, was the fourth vehicle assigned to the company. This new truck was equipped with an on board generator, four 1500 quartz lights, and 2 electric hurst tool power units. This enabled us to use 3 tools at once. This truck suited us well into the future.

1987 - The 1972 Seagrave Snorkel had enough. It was replaced with a new 1987 LTI Tower Ladder 3811 (now 387). This was the fifth vehicle to join our ranks. Features of this truck include: 10 man enclosed cab, 12k generator, 100ft. reach, and quick setup. This truck was the first enclosed cab on Long Island. The first fire with this truck was at the State Hospital grounds in Central Islip.

1999 - 1999 Saulsbury Walk-Through Heavy Rescue, 389, which replaced the smaller 389, was the sixth vehicle assigned to the company.
